A quick note for our regulars. We've been running at a loss the last couple of years so we've had to increase our fees slightly in order be able to keep putting on events. Prices will be $30 for members an $40 for "weekend only" members.
Also, I recieved notice today that our new trophies are on their way. We're moving away from tradional Plaques and Cars on Sticks. More details to come once they arrive...but we think you're gonna like 'em. 😎
Foot on the gas until you see God. Then brake. Oh wait. That doesn't work so well on ice. See y'all on Sunday.
International Ice Racing Association: 1st race of the year 1/6 & 1/7
Just came back from visiting/seeing Buzzy at Flickabirds. East Rush Lake has an average 12” of ice. He at this time has plowed roads and started to install ice houses.
With the upcoming cold and the small amount of snow he feels that by Jan 6th there should be more than 16” of ice.
With that he is also having a vintage snowmobile race on the 6th. That race has yet to get it’s water use permit. But when at Flickabirds Buzzy called the sheriffs captain that is in charge of that permit and he said that once it was applied for it would be approved. The IIRA race that weekend was also mentioned and he saw no problem with our event permit.
Flickabirds will be having it’s lunch tent out for the snowmobile races. That resource can be used for volunteer and racers lunches.
Would suggest to all that the first ice racing event can be held. Will move forward with the permit application and the plowing for the track late next week to prepare for Saturday the 6th start.
Comments are welcomed.
